IgniteU ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

- Email address - Used for account creation, login, and password recovery
- Username - Used to identify you within the app
- Password - Encrypted and stored securely in our database
1.2 Learning Data
- Learning progress - Lessons completed, time spent learning
- Quiz results - Scores, answers, and assessment data
- Course preferences - Topics and subjects you're interested in
1.3 Device Information (Push Notifications Only)
- FCM token - Firebase Cloud Messaging token to deliver notifications
- Device type - Android/iOS version for notification optimization
2. How We Collect Information
- Directly from you - When you create an account, take quizzes, or update your profile
- Automatically - When you use the app, we track your learning progress and generate FCM tokens for notifications
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Account management - Create and manage your user account
- Provide learning content - Deliver personalized educational material based on your progress
- Track progress - Save your quiz results and learning milestones
- Push notifications - Send reminders, learning tips, and updates (only if you enable notifications)
- Improve our service - Analyze usage patterns to enhance the learning experience
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Where Your Data Is Stored
- User data (email, username, learning progress, quiz results) - Stored in Neon (PostgreSQL) database hosted on cloud infrastructure
- Account authentication data - Managed by our Node.js (Express) backend with secure session management
- Push notification tokens - Stored in both our Neon database and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) system
4.2 Security Measures
- Encryption in transit - All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses TLS/SSL encryption (HTTPS)
- Encryption at rest - Passwords are hashed using bcrypt; other data is encrypted in the Neon database
- Access control - Only authorized personnel with strict need-to-know have database access
- Regular security updates - Our Node.js backend and Neon database receive regular security patches
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
5.1 Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) - Google
5.2 Neon (PostgreSQL Database)
- Purpose: Store your account and learning data
- Data stored: Email, username, learning progress, quiz results

Important: We do NOT sell your personal information to any third parties. We do NOT share your data with advertisers or marketing companies.
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active
- Push notification tokens: Automatically removed from our system after 30 days of app inactivity
- Deleted accounts: All your personal data is permanently deleted from our Neon database within 30 days of account deletion request
- Backup retention: Database backups are kept for 30 days and then automatically purged
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct your account information
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data (available in Profile → Delete Account)
- Notification opt-out: Disable push notifications anytime in device Settings or app preferences

8. Children's Privacy
We do NOT knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the new policy on this page
- Sending an in-app notification (if you have notifications enabled)
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
We encourage you to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data based on:
- Contract performance: To provide the learning service you requested
- Legitimate interests: To improve our app and send relevant notifications
